Please note the price for a single traveler with no roommate is $7,950.

  • 9 nights accommodation at the Royal Horseguards Hotel in standard rooms (double occupancy**) with full English breakfast daily. The hotel is situated on the Thames, with easy walking to Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, the South Bank, and more.
  • Tickets to 6 shows (see below for details), and several appearances from guest speakers associated with the shows. (Previous speakers include Mark Rylance, Bryan Cranston, James McAvoy, and more!)
  • Morning meetings to discuss the plays and London’s theatrical landscape with Theatreworks Artistic Director Dr. Max Shulman, and special guests.
  • One 3-course dinner with drinks in a private dining room at the restaurant 34 Mayfair.

Max Shulman
Artistic Director, Theatreworks
Professor, Theatre & Dance, University of Colorado Colorado Springs

Max Shulman is the Artistic Director of Theatreworks and a professor in the Theatre and Dance Program at UCCS. He has directed productions at regional theatres across the country and, prior to his appointment in 2025, was a frequent collaborator with Theatreworks, where his credits include An Iliad, Pericles, and Henry IV/V. He also serves as the director of the HomeFront Theatre Project, which focuses on storytelling within veteran and military communities. Prior to his position at Theatreworks, he was the Director of the Heller Center for Arts and Humanities. 

Max has a PhD in theatre history from Tufts University and an expertise in 19th- and early 20th-century U.S. theatre. He is the author of The American Pipe Dream: Performance of Drug Addiction, 1890–1940 (University of Iowa Press) and co-editor of Performing the Progressive Era: Immigration, Nationalism, and Urban Life. His essays and criticism have appeared in Modern Drama, Theatre Topics, Theatre Annual, Studies in American Jewish Literature, and HowlRound. A member of the Eugene O’Neill Review editorial board, Max brings both scholarly insight and a passion for live performance to his work at Theatreworks and within the UCCS’s Visual and Performing Arts program where he teaches performance and history courses.
