EIKO OTAKE: A BODY IN PLACES
DECEMBER 8, 2018
free; no registration required
Eiko Otake has long been a friend of the Galleries of Contemporary Art, UCCS Theatre and Dance, and Colorado College. One of the premier movement artists in the world, Otake’s career has spanned five decades, bringing evocative, site specific performance to venues all over the world. Four years ago, Otake was in residence with our students and at GOCA, and presented her extraordinary exhibition A Body in Fukushima, a series of photographs of the artist in situ within the fallout zone of the nuclear disaster in Japan.
The work has continued and developed over the years and Otake returns to UCCS in collaboration with our friends at Colorado College for two nights, December 8th at UCCS and December 15th at Colorado College, for special performances of A Body in Places, presented over the course of 90 minutes. You won’t want to miss this amazing, contemplative work that interrogates the human body and its relationship to the world that surrounds it. Otake is a legendary artist and we are thrilled to welcome her back.
