"Justice of the Piece" Exhibition Brings Iconic Muralists Lady Pink, Sydney G. James, and Grow Love to Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs, CO – May 8, 2025 – The Galleries of Contemporary Art (GOCA) proudly presents Justice of the Piece, a bold and timely exhibition featuring three transformative muralists and studio artists—Lady Pink, Sydney G. James, and Grow Love—on view from June 7 through October 4, 2025.

Justice of the Piece explores how murals and public art can serve as acts of resistance, remembrance, and reclamation. Each artist reclaims visual space to amplify underrepresented narratives—transforming walls and canvases into sites of social justice, cultural memory, and community healing.

“This exhibition centers women and female- or nonbinary-identifying artists whose work refuses erasure,” says Dr. Joy Armstrong, GOCA Director. “Lady Pink, Sydney G. James, and Grow Love bring fierce artistry and radical care to their practice, reminding us how public art can uplift entire communities.”

The exhibition opens with a free community celebration on Saturday, June 7 from 12–4 p.m., featuring:

  • A gallery talk with all three featured artists
  • A community mural project led by Grow Love
  • Live painting by local artists Katie Curcio, Rachel Dinda, and Grace Wood
  • Music, food trucks, and more
