UCCS Theatre Company Presents "The Ghost Sonata"

UCCS Theatre Company Presents August Strindberg's The Ghost Sonata Haunting Expressionist Masterpiece Explores Secrets, Illusion, and the Masks We Wear

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO (February 24, 2026) — The University of Colorado Colorado Springs Visual and Performing Arts Department presents The Ghost Sonata, August Strindberg's haunting expressionist classic, March 12–22, 2026, at the Dusty Loo Bon Vivant Theater at the Ent Center for the Arts at UCCS.

Directed by Kevin Landis, this mainstage production features UCCS Theatre & Dance students in a visceral exploration of guilt, decaying respectability, and the truths we'd rather not face. When a student enters a wealthy household led by a mysterious benefactor, secrets unravel in redolent fragments—revealing the ghosts we carry and the illusions that sustain us.

"Strindberg's work is uncanny, poetic, magical, and deeply human," says Landis. "This production invites audiences to confront the masks we wear in our own lives and the uncomfortable truths that lie beneath."

A RARE THEATRICAL EXPERIENCE WITH LIVE CHAMBER MUSIC

The Ghost Sonata will be accompanied by a professional music trio featuring cellist Pamela Chaddon, violinist Elisa Wicks, and pianist Simon Jacobs. Audiences are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes early to experience the chamber music prelude. Following each performance, Chaddon and Landis will lead a conversation exploring the intersections between the works of Bach and Strindberg.
