Dear Elizabeth, Theatreworks 2026-2027 Season
SWEAT, Theatreworks 2026-2027 Season

Written by Lynn Nottage
Director: Taisa Jones

Reading, Pennsylvania stands on blue-collar labor. From the factory that employs generations of steel workers, to the watering hole where those same workers bond after hours, the whole town thrums in time with the factory that sustains them. But Y2K is in the rearview, and times are changing. The tight knit community of factory workers now find themselves divided by strikes, layoffs, automation, and the shattering realization that livelihood trumps loyalty when desperation sets in. Full of warmth, humanity, and heartbreak, Lynne Nottage’s Pulitzer Prize Winning play rebuilds the American moment in miniature, playing out national struggles in a small-town bar. The resulting drama crackles with immediacy and relevance even years after its original production.
